Description
78'
L. Leroy enters the game and replaces J. Ferri.
Leroy replaces Ferri in a like-for-like swap in midfield.
77'
Neymar threads it through for Herrera but Sambia’s fantastic sliding challenge not only wins the ball from the midfielder but keeps it in play for Ferri to run onto.
75'
Ferri picks his head up on the right-hand side and launches a pass down the pitch for Mavididi, but it’s hit too long as Navas comes out of his area to make the claim.
73'
Mollet cuts inside from the left and fires a lovely cross into the penalty area for Germain, who gets across Kimpembe and puts a header towards goal. It’s a great chance to get level though it’ll take better to beat Navas in the form he’s in.
65'
Cozza is allowed time and space to deliver a cross on the left flank but the eventual delivery is repelled easily by Marquinhos.
62'
Another disappointing set-piece for the visitors as Savanier is unable to beat the first man from the right corner.
60'
Mavididi curls a shot towards goal from outside the penalty area, forcing Navas into a great diving save. The goalkeeper pushes the shot away and keeps it out of danger - turning it behind for a corner.
58'
The Montpellier captain is again at the heart of the attack as Savanier looks to deliver a flat cross over the top of the defence for Germain. It’s a great delivery, but it sails just over the head of Marquinhos and out for a goal-kick.
56'
Savanier runs into Herrera, sending the midfielder down to the turf in a heap. It’s a free-kick for PSG inside their own half as they look to spring another quick attack.
54'
Savanier and Mollet get in each other's way outside the PSG 18-yard box which allows the hosts to regain possession. Pochettino’s side have had the dominant share of the ball in the second half after being held to 48% in the first half.
52'
Sambia gets forward down the right but slips as he’s about to put a cross into the penalty area for Germain as Marquinhos can easily repel the mishit delivery.
50'
Neymar calls for the ball on the left and receives it, but his pass forward for Mbappe is easily intercepted by Sambia. The Brazil international hasn’t looked his creative best today; he’s been unable to dictate the rhythm of play - also a credit to the Montpellier defence.
48'
Mollet curls an early cross into the penalty area for Germain, but Navas steps off his line expertly and makes a clean catch to deny the visitors.
46'
Montpellier get the match restarted from the kick-off!
45' +1
HALF-TIME: PSG 1-0 MONTPELLIER.
45'
The fourth official indicates one minute will be added for stoppages.
44'
Savanier’s corner is a poor effort that hits Di Maria squarely in the chest at the near post. The Montpellier captain will have to offer better in the second half if his side wish to pull back level.
39'
With just over five minutes remaining in the first period, it doesn’t appear as though Montpellier will be able to level the score before the interval. The visitors have been slightly better in the second half this season however, scoring eight of their 15 goals after the restart.
37'
Di Maria goes down under pressure from Esteve, who appears to have stepped on the winger’s foot unintentionally. Montpellier put the ball out sportingly to allow the Argentina international a moment to gather himself - before possession is returned to the visitors.
35'
Magnificent work from Mbappe, who beats two defenders inside the penalty area before positioning himself on the edge of the six-yard box. Neymar takes up a similar spot and the two clatter into each other, allowing Cozza to smuggle it away desperately.
33'
A PSG attack breaks down after Savanier is pushed over off the ball by Neymar, as Montpellier are able to clear their lines from a free-kick, having survived another onslaught.
31'
Sambia has a sight at goal from the right corner of the penalty area and hits a low, driven shot that Navas deals with comfortably.
29'
The set-piece is taken short to Neymar, but he’s dispossessed just ahead of the near post by a well-timed Ferri challenge.
28'
Gueye slices the Montpellier defence open with a pass out to the left for Mbappe, who gets onto the forward pass and opens himself up to curl an effort - which takes a touch off a defender to put it behind for a corner.
26'
N. Cozza enters the game and replaces Matheus Thuler.
Thuler appears to have injured his hamstring in an attempt to cover Mbappe and will need to be substituted off. It’s a blow for Montpellier, who introduce Cozza to replace him.
24'
Di Maria plays a leading pass into the penalty area for Mbappe to latch onto, but Thuler steps across in the nick of time to put the striker off and allows Omlin to collect the loose ball.
22'
With their record, Montpellier were always likely to concede a goal or two this evening against PSG. The question for Dall’Oglio is whether his side can keep pace with their free-scoring opponents. Savanier and Mollet have looked lively to start the match but they’ve not had any clear-cut chances as of yet.
20'
Gueye brings Ferri down in midfield, catching the Montpellier player’s ankle with his studs. The goalscorer won’t be booked - though he could have been with his challenge occurring right in front of the referee.
16'
Having not built his career on a stellar scoring record, holding midfielder Gueye has netted three goals in his last six matches in Ligue 1. On the other two instances he’s found the back of the net, his side have gone on to finish the match with four goals.
14'
I. Gueye has scored a goal for PSG! Assist by Á. Di María.
WHAT A HIT FROM GUEYE! 1-0 PSG! Mbappe leads the attack but his intended pass for Neymar is met with a deflection that takes it to Di Maria on the edge of the penalty area. The midfielder lays it off to Gueye, who sidesteps an opponent and fires an absolute thunderbolt that beats Omlin!
Di Maria's intelligent layoff will go down as the assist for PSG's opener.
12'
Neymar’s short-corner routine finds Mbappe before it’s returned to the Brazil international. He looks to make something on the edge of the penalty area but his attempted cross is blocked by Mollet who was one of three covering defenders.
10'
Di Maria cuts inside from the right and looks to switch the play to Neymar, but the delivery from the Argentina international is lacking as it flies out for a Montpellier throw-in just ahead of their own penalty area.
9'
The second set-piece in quick succession is taken to the near post, where Marquinhos is able to make contact with it to put it out for a throw-in.
7'
Savanier’s corner from the right is taken towards Ristic on the edge of the penalty area, who volleys the ball at the first time of asking - winning a second corner, this time on the far side.
5'
CLOSE! Neymar breaks into the penalty area and drags the keeper off his line before executing a chip which goes over the goalkeeper but also over the crossbar.
3'
An incisive pass from Herrera gets Mbappe free on the left-wing, but the forward’s curled shot is blocked well by the retreating Sambia.

PSG get the match underway from the kick-off!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE commentary of the Ligue 1 fixture between Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier!
League-leading PSG are looking to put nine points between themselves and second-place Marseille with a win against Montpellier tonight. Back-to-back 90th minute victories against Lyon and Metz in the league means Mauricio Pochettino’s side are still perfect; seven wins in seven.
With 15 goals scored in Ligue 1 so far, only PSG have outscored entertainers Montpellier, who are coming off the back of a dramatic 3-3 draw with Bordeaux. Sitting in 11th position at the start of play, Olivier Dall'Oglio’s side have failed to win in each of their last five meetings with Paris - since a 3-2 victory in 2019.
MONTPELLIER SUBS: Nicolas Cozza, Sepe Elye Wahi, Redouane Halal, Nicholas Gioacchini, Beni Makouana, Leo Leroy, Mathias Suarez, Arnaud Souquet, Dimitry Bertaud.
MONTPELLIER XI (4-2-3-1): Jonas Omlin; Junior Sambia, Maxime Esteve, Thuler, Mihailo Ristic; Jordan Ferri, Joris Chotard; Florent Mollet, Teji Savanier, Stephy Mavididi; Valere Germain.
PSG SUBS: Julian Draxler, Mauro Icardi, Georginio Wijnaldum, Danilo Pereira, Nuno Mendes, Colin Dagba, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Eric Ebimbe, Rafinha.
PSG XI (4-3-3): Keylor Navas; Abdou Diallo, Presnel Kimpembe, Marquinhos, Achraf Hakimi; Ander Herrera, Idrissa Gueye, Leonardo Paredes; Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Angel Di Maria.
With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, let's take a look at how the two sides will be lining up - starting with our hosts!
Montpellier will be forced to come out and attack in the second half, with no reason to sit back and allow for an easy victory. Savanier will need to deliver a higher standard of set-piece, with corners too often failing to challenge the PSG defence. The intent to attack will leave spaces in behind for the hosts, however, who could look to capitalise with their pace on the counter-attack. With a Champions League fixture also coming up in midweek, look for Pochettino to make a number of changes to his side - especially if they get some insurance early in the second half.
That concludes our commentary of the Ligue 1 fixture between Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier! We hope you’ve enjoyed it!
PSG host Manchester City on Tuesday, before travelling to face Rennes in Ligue 1 on Sunday. Montpellier return home next week when they host Strasbourg.
