Jesus gets the game underway for Arsenal!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Premier League meeting between Southampton and Arsenal at the St Mary's Stadium!
Arsenal currently sit one point clear of Manchester City at the top of the table, and they're looking to continue their eight-match winning run in all competitions to open up the four-point gap again. They qualified for the Europa League knockout stages on Thursday after beating PSV, and it was their third 1-0 victory in a row in all competitions. Southampton got a much-needed win against Bournemouth last time out to ease some of the pressure on Ralph Hasenhuttl. It ended a run of five without a victory (D1 L4) and marked their first clean sheet in the league this season.
SOUTHAMPTON STARTING XI (4-2-3-1): Gavin Bazunu; Duje Caleta-Car, Lyanco, Mohammed Salisu, Romain Perraud; Ibrahima Diallo, James Ward-Prowse; Mohamed Elyounoussi, Joe Aribo, Stuart Armstrong; Adam Armstrong.
SOUTHAMPTON SUBS: Samuel Edozie, Juan Larios, Che Adams, Moussa Djenepo, Ryan Finnigan, Theo Walcott, Lewis Payne, Alex McCarthy, Sekou Mara.
ARSENAL STARTING XI (4-2-3-1): Aaron Ramsdale; Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Takehiro Tomiyasu; Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka; Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli; Gabriel Jesus.
ARSENAL SUBS: Rob Holding, Marquinhos, Kieran Tierney, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah, Matt Turner, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Cedric Soares, Fabio Vieira.
The teams are out on the pitch now, with kick-off just moments away!
Arteta will be pleased with his side's performance in the first half - they put Southampton under a lot of pressure and arguably should have scored more. The Saints took a while to grow into the game, but have struggled to create chances, and Hasenhuttl might be thinking about making a change to help with that.
Arsenal stay in top spot, two points clear of Manchester City. They couldn't extend their winning run, but they are unbeaten in nine outings. They travel to PSV next time out in the Europa League. Southampton drop to 15th due to Aston Villa's win, but they're now unbeaten in three games. They face Crystal Palace next weekend.
