After a moment of reflection to pay tribute to the victims of the events in Turkey and Syria, Barcelona get the game underway as Lewandowski kicks off.
Hello, and welcome to live coverage of this fixture in La Liga, as Villarreal welcome Barcelona to El Madrigal.
In contrast, the visitors have currently won their last five games on the bounce, conceding just one goal, and are unbeaten in 11 in a run which stretches back to October. Barcelona sit eight points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the table, and will extend that gap to 11 with a win here.
The Yellow Submarine sit eighth in the table, and an unlikely win over the league leaders would take them up to fifth. However, Villarreal have lost their last two games on the bounce, with a Pere Milla hat-trick sealing a 3-1 defeat against Elche last time out.
BARCELONA SUBS: Inaki Pena, Arnau Tenas, Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, Marcos Alonso, Jordi Alba, Sergi Roberto, Eric Garcia, Pablo Torre, Angel Alarcon.
BARCELONA (4-3-3): Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Alejandro Balde; Franck Kessie, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri; Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, Pablo Gavi.
VILLARREAL SUBS: Iker Alvarez, Kiko Femenia, Jorge Cuenca, Samuel Chukwueze, Johan Mojica, Manu Trigueros, Aissa Mandi, Fernando Nino, Ramon Terrats.
After one hell of a lights show at El Madrigal, the players make their way onto the pitch, with kick-off just moments away here!
The teams return for the second half at El Madrigal, and can Barca find a second goal to tighten their grip on three prospective points?
VILLARREAL (4-3-3): Pepe Reina; Juan Foyth, Raul Albiol, Pau Torres, Alberto Moreno; Etienne Capoue, Dani Parejo, Francis Coquelin; Yeremy Pino, Jose Morales, Alex Baena.
That's all from us, we hope you enjoyed the game. Until the next one, goodbye!
Villarreal miss out on the chance to go fifth in the table with their third straight loss in the league, but showed more than enough against runaway leaders Barca to suggest they can turn their poor run of form around sooner rather than later. Barca, on the other hand, extend their lead at the top to a whopping 11 points, with their goal difference of +36 also by far the best in the league. It'll take something special, or a profound Blaugrana collapse, for Real Madrid to catch the Catalan club from here, as they extend their own winning run to six games in a row.
