Good afternoon and welcome to Goal.com's lve commentary of Aston Villa against Swansea City at Villa Park. My name is Sumit Rehal and I'll be announcing all the action through what looks to be a tight game!
Aston Villa have not won a league game in their last 13 attempts, which is a club record in the Premier League. Paul Lambert's men will look to get their season on the right track with a win here.
Swansea City however have got their season off with a cracker and will look to maintain their position at second place in the league.
The Swansea players walk off with agitation as they were unable to capitalise on their many fantastic opportunities.
There were many instances of vintage Swansea build ups with short, effective passing that was able to split the Villa defence but Guzan and his defence were able to halt Dyer and his comrades from finishing.
Villa were able to score from the few great chances that they had and will look to maintain their lead by stopping Swansea's attack before they reach the penalty box as sooner or later they will be able to take their opportunities.
Villa Park roars as they gain their first victory since March as Benteke and Lowton give each other a celebratory handshake as theie team applaud the fans.
Swansea City looked promising during the first half but Lambert got his tactics spot on as Villa were able to prevent Laudrup's men from hitting the back of the net. The Swans lost their edge in the second half as Villa improved their creativity going forward.
The debut of Benteke had given Villa more options as he was able to effectively pair with Bent and conducted a series of clever link-up play. It was a dream debut for former Genk striker as he was able to deliver a clever finish after a defensive mishap from Swansea.
Laudrup's side will look to overcome the loss next Saturday as they host Everton, who face Newcastle on Monday. Meanwhile Lambert's men will look to take their winning momentum to St Mary's where they face Southampton.
