And right on 90 minutes, the referee blows the final whistle.
88'
Not much stoppage time I imagine, as Roma pass the game into oblivion. Genoa have been chasing shadows right from the word go.
86'
I. Cofie gets yellow.
Gervinho with a great turn of pace to get away from Cofie, who cynically brings him down with a late trip. The former Arsenal man would have been away, and the substitute is booked for his troubles.
84'
BAAAAAAAD MISS FROM DESTRO. Strootman put a chance for him on a platter, but with only Perin to beat, he lifts the ball cleanly over the top of the bar. Should have been five.
83'
T. Jedvaj enters the game and replaces Maicon.
82'
M. Konaté enters the game and replaces E. Calaiò.
80'
The game just about winding down as we enter the home stretch. Both sides preparing some subs to eat up the final minutes.
78'
Marquinho enters the game and replaces A. Florenzi.
And that is Florenzi's last action, as he departs to a standing ovation from the home fans. Great game.
76'
BLOCKED ON THE LINE! Totti's snap shot is blocked by Manfrendi superbly, and despite calls for handball from the Roma fans, the referee correctly waves play on!
74'
Hard to pick a man of the man of the match, with so many standouts in the Roma team. Totti, Gervinho and Florenzi all deserve a nod, but I may just about go for Strootman, faultless and complete in the middle of the pitch.
Minute
Description
72'
Destro, on for only a few seconds, nearly connects with a Totti pass to stab Roma even further in front!
71'
M. Destro enters the game and replaces M. Pjanić.
70'
Subs coming up for both sides, it looks like Destro and Sampirisi are the men ready to make their appearances.
69'
S. De Maio enters the game and replaces Š. Vrsaljko.
68'
Roma continue to pepper away at the visiting goal, and Strootman is next to try his luck. His long range attempt whistles the wrong side of the post.
66'
Nainggolan tests Perin with a rasping drive from all of 30 yards! The keeper had that, but milked the save slightly with an elaborate parry!
64'
The game resumes now after that storm of confusion, and Roma are back on the ball. The free kick is taken, but Benatia just misses making contact.
62'
I. Cofie enters the game and replaces A. Bertolacci.
It seemed like Matuzalem had responded badly to some ribbing by the Roma fans, and his actions were spotted by the referee, who deemed it appropriate to give him his marching orders! Also, Cofie, the player Genoa attempted to bring on for Matuzalem, must now make his way to the side of the pitch and re-enter the game via substitution for a second time. Bizarre.
60'
Matuzalém gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
RED CARD FOR MATUZALEM! We'll need some clarification, but the hosts' misery goes from bad to worse.
59'
L. Antonelli gets yellow.
Some confusion now as Genoa make a substitution, and the referee shows a quickfire yellow to Antonelli, to the displeasure of a throng of Genoa players.
58'
Another dangerous free kick for the Giallorossi, as Manfrendi upends Totti in full flight near the top of the D.
56'
Just a case of how many Roma want now. Like plucking wings off a butterfly, they have the visitors wedged in the palm of their hands.
54'
Florenzi tries to one touch a pass into the anticipated path of Gervinho, but the Ivorian misread his intentions, stayed static, and the chance is gone.
52'
M. Benatia has scored a goal for Roma! Assist by F. Totti.
ROMA SCORE AGAIN!
Genoa on course for a hiding! The corner comes in from Totti, and it's met with a lovely flicked header from Benatia, who steers the ball into the far side!
51'
After a small delay, the ball is launched into the mixer, but Genoa clear for a Roma corner.
50'
Roma win a free kick about 30 yards from goal. A little too far to shoot, but the bodies are piling into the box for the delivery from Strootman.
48'
Roma pick up where they left off, dominating the ball. They're taking their time though, literally strolling around the pitch. That's the security a three goal lead will give you.
46'
Here we go again!
45' +1
No stoppage time here, as the ref signals for the break!
45'
I said after the first quarter of an hour that the Roma wide men needed to step up, and my goodness, have they done just that. Gervinho and Florenzi, swapping flanks at will, have been an absolute terror in the latter stages of the half!
43'
Maicon has scored a goal for Roma! Assist by A. Florenzi.
ROMA ADD ANOTHER!
Swift, rapid and deadly counter attack from the home side! Strootman sets things in motion with a pinged pass out to Florenzi on the right, and the goalscorer puts in a perfect bouncing early cross into the box that Maicon, streaking through the centre, cannot help but slam home!
42'
Nainggolan clumsily fouls Antonelli, and gives Genoa a chance to hoist the ball into the box from the resulting set piece.
A line of no less than seven Roma players move towards a poor delivery from the visitors, and Roma clear their lines.
40'
Dodo skips past a despairing challenge on the let hand side, and angles himself to clip a cutback into the box, but it's too close to Perin, who smothers without trouble at the near post.
38'
Got to give a shout to Strotman in the centre of the park, who has absolutely bossed the midfield for the hosts. He's been winning tackles like they're going out of style, and his distribution, short and long, has been superb.
36'
What could have been Genoa's first sniff at a goalscoring chance is quickly evaporated thanks to some god awful off the ball movement from Calaio. How they miss Gilardino's influence and menace up front.
34'
Nearly another killer blow from the hosts as the effervescent Gervinho once again beats his man for pace on the right flank, but Perin reads the danger well and scampers off his line to smothers the ball at his feet. An Ivorian reborn?
32'
This is Roma's match to lose on the run of play. They've begun to create and convert the chances to match their dominance of the ball, and it's hard to see Genoa competing without a drastic change in approach.
30'
F. Totti has scored a goal for Roma! Assist by Y. Gervinho.
TOTTI! 2-0!
Having failed a moment ago, the skipper makes no mistake this time! Gervinho intelligently(?!?!?) cuts the ball back to Totti on the top of the box, and the veteran's placed shot should be saved by Perin, but he cannot get to the ball in time!
29'
ROMA NEARLY DOUBLE UP! Gervinho is released on the right flank, and with confidence coursing through his veins, he takes on two defenders before attempting a clip over Perin, but the keeper is not falling for it.
Perin tested again, this time by Totti, whose 25 yarder flies straight into his arms. Good handling by the keeper in the end, as he looked set to spill it for a second. Roma keeping their foot slammed down on the gas!
27'
Genoa attempt to respond with an inswinging free kick from the right hand side, but De Sanctis is off his line well to clear!
25'
A. Florenzi has scored a goal for Roma!
WHAT A GOAL! MAGNIFICO!
Totti took a long run up on that free kick, but slammed it into the wall. Genoa fail to clear their lines though, and the ball bounces up to Florenzi, who shows incredible technique to plant an overhead kick into the far side of the goal!
24'
Matuzalém gets yellow.
23'
Totti clipped on the edge of the area by Matuzalem, leading to a dangerous free kick for Roma and the first yellow of the game for the midfielder.
21'
Getting scrappier and scrappier out there as Roma are becoming bogged down in this rigid, narrow shape adopted by the visiting side. It's all a bit congested at the moment to envision any good chances.
19'
Still a strong atmosphere inside the Stadio Olimpico despite the painfully obvious throngs of empty seats in the stands.
17'
Not much in terms of chances to report though, and that's one area where Garcia will want his charges to improve. Totti has been the most menacing player, and Gervinho and Florenzi on the flanks need to step it up.
15'
Roma have had nearly three quarters of the ball in the opening quarter of an hour. It's been one-way traffic, and Garcia must be reasonably happy with what his side have offered in terms of intent.
13'
The full backs Maicon and Dodo getting more involved in an attacking sense for Roma. No surprises there, as with Genoa's five man midfield, they often stand as the odd free men out.
11'
Haven't seen Genoa venture much outside their own half since the first whistle. It's been all Roma on the ball, and the Giallorossi are increasingly getting themselves into better and better positions in the attacking third.
9'
Lovely turn on the ball from Nainggolan to evade a stiff challenge from Cabral. He frees himself for a shot from 20 yards, but its somewhat disappointingly right into the arms of De Sanctis.
7'
Dodo spies Totti making an unchecked run down the centre of the park, and picks him out with a good ball. The Roma skipper had moved too early though, and is halted in his tracks by the offside flag.
5'
Roma have dominated the ball in the opening exchanges, but as of yet, they have only a blocked Totti shot from the edge of the box to show for their efforts. Genoa are keeping their shape well defensively.
3'
Genoa already looking very narrow, packing five men across the midfield area. Gervinho has had a few unnoticed moves down the left flank already.
1'
Three minutes, to be exact. The match kicks off with Genoa on the ball.
Hello and welcome to Roma's clash with Genoa at Stadio Olimpico, in another round of Serie A action. I'm Keeghann Sinanan, your guide for all the action.
ROMA (4-3-3): De Sanctis; Maicon, Benatia, Burdisso, Dodo; Nainggolan, Strootman, Pjanic; Florenzi, Totti, Gervinho.
Daniele De Rossi and Leandro Castan are both suspended for the home side following their straight red cards in the match against Juventus. Adem Ljajic also failed a late fitness test, but there is a place in the XI for Radja Nainggolan to make his second appearance for his new team since signing from Cagliari.
Genoa have to contend without the suspended Alberto Gilardino, who with eight goals, has single handedly been responsible for 42 per cent of their league scoring output, the highest such ratio in the Serie A this season. Napoli loanee Emanuele Calaio will bear the responsibilities up front.
The teams are a bit late coming out of the tunnel, so we could be facing a delayed kickoff by a few minutes or so.
Roma streets ahead of Genoa after the first 45 minutes of play. The Giallorossi have simply been better in every aspect of play, and have been a joy to watch once in full flow. A goalazo from Florenzi, and further eye-catching strikes from Totti and Maicon have put Garcia's boys on the verge of an important three points.
That's it from me folks, see you next time.
A great show from the Giallorossi, who gave their fans plenty to cheer after playing Genoa completely off the park. They stay two points ahead of Napoli, but Juve, with their win, still hold an eight point lead at the top of the table.
