And we're off! Stoke get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today's Premier League game between Leicester City and Stoke City. My name is Ben Cullimore and I will be keeping you up to date with all of the action from the King Power Stadium.
After a tough first half of the season in which they were only able to win two of their opening 18 games, Leicester have enjoyed a positive few weeks recently and head into today's clash unbeaten in their last three league games as a result. Last weekend saw them pick up a well-earned, and much-needed, 1-0 win against Aston Villa, and another victory today will secure Nigel Pearson's side back-to-back Premier League home wins for the first time since March 2001. A win could also move them off the foot of the table and send them as high as 16th place if Queens Park Rangers, Hull City, Burnley and Sunderland all slip up in their respective games this weekend.
As for Stoke, they come into today's game in 11th place, just one point behind Newcastle United and a spot in the top half of the table. Last weekend saw their three-game unbeaten run brought to an end by Arsenal, with the North London side comfortably beating the Potters 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium, and, despite their being a gap of nine places and nine points between the two sides today, this afternoon's clash is going to be far from easy for Mark Hughes' men. Leicester's first three points of the season came against Stoke back in September, with Leonardo Ulloa, the Foxes' top goalscorer so far this season, scoring the only goal of the game.
There's just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let's have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon...
Leicester City XI (4-4-2): Hamer; Simpson, Wasilewski, Morgan, Konchesky; Knockaert, Drinkwater, King, Schlupp; Vardy, Nugent.
Leicester City substitutes: Schwarzer, De Laet, Moore, Lawrence, Albrighton, Kramaric, Ulloa.
Stoke City XI (4-2-3-1): Begovic; Bardsley, Wilson, Wollscheid, Muniesa; Whelan, N'Zonzi; Arnautovic, Bojan, Moses; Walters.
Stoke City substitutes: Butland, Huth, Cameron, Sidwell, Adam, Ireland, Crouch.
Nigel Pearson has made made four changes to the Leicester side that started the 1-0 win against Aston Villa last weekend, with Danny Drinkwater, Andy King, Jeffrey Schlupp and Jamie Vardy all coming into the starting 11 to replace Marc Albrighton, Dean Hammond, Matty James and Leonardo Ulloa, respectively.
As for Stoke, boss Mark Hughes has also made four changes to the side that lost 3-0 away to Arsenal in their last Premier League outing, with Geoff Cameron, Ryan Shawcross, Erik Pieters and Peter Crouch making way for Phil Bardsley, Marc Wilson, Marc Muniesa and Victor Moses.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: LEICESTER CITY 0-0 STOKE CITY
Leicester will undoubtedly be the happier of the two sides as they head down the tunnel after what has been an impressive first half for the hosts. Schlupp and Knockaert have caused Bardsley a plethora of problems down the left flank, with the Scottish defender struggling to deal with the pace and trickery of the two midfielders. Meanwhile, at the other end, Stoke have found it difficult to build on a positive opening 15 minutes, with the Foxes' back four holding firm to stifle the influence of Bojan and Moses, who have, at times, looked impressive.
The two teams are making their way back out onto the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: LEICESTER CITY 0-1 STOKE CITY
Stoke hold on to pick up three valuable points that temporarily move them ahead of Newcastle and into the top half of the table. In truth, Mark Hughes' side never looked as if they were going to lose after taking the lead through Bojan on the hour mark, as, despite their best efforts, Leicester just couldn't find a way past the Potters' impressive and well-disciplined back four.
Stoke, who are now just one point behind Swansea City after the Welsh side's 5-0 defeat at home to Chelsea this afternoon, go on to face Queens Park Rangers in their next Premier League game at the end of the month, whilst Leicester, who remain bottom of the table, face a tough trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.
My name is Ben Cullimore and it's been an absolute pleasure describing all of the action to you this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye!
