Memphis lashes a free-kick well over the bar but it doesn't matter as the final whistle blows!
90' +1
Ignashevich does excellently to cross to a central position, and it's attacked by Berezutski, who wins his header but places it right down the throat of De Gea, who grabs comfortably and securely.
89'
Ander Herrera enters the game and replaces B. Schweinsteiger.
Some late forays forward by CSKA have led nowhere, and the home side are edging closer to sealing a vital win that would take them top of the group, with PSV leading Wolfsburg 2-0.
87'
Panchenko replaces Dzagoev for the remainder of this game, and it looks like Van Gaal will respond with a change of his own, as Herrera is set to enter the fray to help United close out this match.
85'
K. Panchenko enters the game and replaces A. Dzagoev.
Weak stuff from CSKA in the end after a promising move. Wernbloom skips away from his man and tees up Musa on the right, with the winger cutting in before laying the ball back off to the former, who lets fly with a tame effort that dribbles past the post.
83'
How important was that double defensive action from De Gea and Smalling? It prevented what looked like a sure-fire opener, which arrived moments later down at the other end. On such fine margins are football games decided.
81'
AKINFEEV SAVES! Rooney tries to ride the momentum of his opener with a cute reverse pass for Lingard, who smashes on goal from an angle, resulting in an acrobatic parry from Akinfeev!
79'
W. Rooney has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by J. Lingard.
ROOOOOONEY! Splendidly worked goal from the home side! Carrick hoists a ball over the top for Lingard down the right, and the youngster one-touches it fantastically into the path of Rooney inside the area, with the captain guiding a header into the roof of the net!
78'
CSKA DENIED BY THE SKIN OF MANCHESTER UNITED'S TEETH! Doumbia is suddenly in the clear and one-on-one with De Gea, but the Spanish goalkeeper sizes him up excellently and blocks him from close range! The substitute picks up the pieces though and smashes on goal with De Gea still prone, but back strides Smalling to make a heroic sliding block!
77'
INCHES WIDE! CSKA clear a cross poorly, with the ball dropping to the edge of the box. It's begging to be hit, and Carrick certainly has the technique to execute, but he flashes it the wrong side of the bottom corner!

Description
75'
A. Golovin enters the game and replaces Z. Tošić.
United have withdrawn Juan Mata and introduced Memphis Depay, who has had his best moments in a Manchester United shirt in this competition. He will play down the left with Lingard on the right.
74'
M. Depay enters the game and replaces Mata.
PENALTY...NO, GOALKICK! The fans have a false dawn of hope as Young goes tumbling just inside the box under a challenge from Schennikov. It looks to be the right decision as Young appeared to be playing for a penalty, going down rather inevitably.
72'
ROONEY CAN'T FINISH! Lingard does excellently down the left-hand side and plays a good ball in for Rooney, who is inside the six-yard area but can't get the ball out from under his feet to poke home what seemed like an inevitable opener from that kind of range!
70'
A cross is taken down really well by Rooney, who wrestles away his man before going down under the pressure. The fans appeal for a penalty, but the referee deems it allowable physical contact.
68'
Fellaini, remember, was involved in getting United level during the return fixture a fortnight ago. You would expect the home side to be even more one-dimensional now with his presence in the air.
66'
M. Fellaini enters the game and replaces A. Martial.
A strong boo erupts around the stadium as Martial is set to be withdrawn for Fellaini. The young striker is applauded off by the fans closest to the dugout. It's more a result of frustration at United's general lack of attacking options than any specific dislike of the players involved in the substitution.
64'
CSKA have another body up front to aim at when attacking, and they already look a little more accomplished when trying to play the ball along the ground. Frustration meanwhile is building in the Untied ranks.
62'
Over an hour gone now and it's still goalless here at Old Trafford. United are once again labouring on the ball, with CSKA getting the measure of them somewhat after an initial flurry to begin the half.
60'
P. Wernbloom gets yellow.
Wernbloom gets his name taken for taking a piece out of Lingard. The youngster has been a threat on and off the ball, but his execution has been lacking during crucial attacks for the hosts.
58'
Musa has been the closest thing that CSKA have had to an attacking threat, and he gets a rare isolation against a lone defender down the wing, but his cross is claimed well by De Gea.
56'
Lenoid Slutsky pulls the trigger on his first change, clearly recognizing that his team need another option up front. Natcho is replaced by Doumbia, who will have over half an hour to make an impact.
55'
S. Doumbia enters the game and replaces B. Natcho.
54'
CSKA continue to struggle in possession and that is inviting the pressure from United. All too often, their runner has been isolated against two or three red shirts and ends up losing the ball.
52'
United hang a corner into the six-yard area, but Akinfeev's punch only falls for Lingard at the edge of the area. His first touch is a tad heavy, and that allows a defender to put him off his shot.
50'
Much like the first-half, United have come out on top at the start of the second, keeping the ball concentrated around the CSKA defensive third. The visitors have barely touched the ball.
48'
Good play from Lingard who beats Fernandes down the wing before pinging the ball into the area, where Ignashevich is in position to clear ahead of Rooney. Rojo gets his head to the resulting corner but misses.
46'
Off we go again.
45'
It's half-time.
43'
A few signs of frustration from the home fans as it looks like United will head into the half-time break level with the opposition despite largely dominating the tempo for most of the match.
41'
Rooney is whistled for an offside after looking to run onto a ricocheted pass from Martial. Good call from the linesman as the United skipper was a step beyond the last defender.
39'
During their last two corners, Manchester United have tried to play it short. CSKA successfully crowd out the first one, and the second is played back into a less dangerous position by Lingard, to a groan from the crowd.
37'
ROJO SHOULD HAVE SMASHED THAT IN! Young is played into space down the right by Rooney and takes his time to measure a wonderful ball to the back post. The Argentine is unmarked and in position and lets loose a cannon of a volley, but doesn't even hit the target!
35'
Martial and Young combine excellently down the right, with the former slipping in the latter for a run to the byline. He squares it across goal and it's picked up by Lingard at the back post. He shifts onto his right foot but lashes his finish well over the top!
33'
Despite the positive play from United, they've still yet to register a goal or really test Akinfeev outside one or two chances. Little over 10 minutes remaining before the break, with the first-half flying by.
31'
Martial gets penalized for pulling the shirt of Berezutski, and there's little to argue from the Manchester United man's perspective as the defender's shirt has a large rip around his chest.
29'
United win a free-kick on the left side of the CSKA box, and it's whipped in by Rooney, with Smalling just missing a touch in the heart of the area. The ball flashes just wide of the far post.
27'
The game is not holding the same intensity as the opening 20 minutes or so, with United looking rather one-dimensional at the moment. Still, however, CSKA are failing to register an attacking threat.
25'
The rain continues to fall over Old Trafford and one or two players are starting to lose their balance out on the field. We've seen United try a lot of long balls over the top, perhaps in a bid to avoid any uncertainty on the slippery turf.
23'
United have held 69 per cent of possession in the early stages of this match. However, CSKA are just looking a little more comfortable in the last few moments when defending.
21'
Schennikov then takes a chunk out of Young and gets the first yellow card of the game. CSKA haven't really gotten out of their own half, with the home side continuing to dominate the ball and the chances.
20'
G. Shchennikov gets yellow.
19'
Manchester United carve CSKA apart down the flanks once again, and Rojo links with Rooney to free the captain to the byline. He cuts back and tries to tee up Lingard, but Schennikov gets a toe in the way.
17'
Great chance of pace from Mata to drive between two defenders and latch onto an equally accomplished long ball out of defence from Blind. He can't generate a lot of power on his finish though, and Akinfeev can smother.
15'
Another cross comes in from the flanks and Rooney makes a move for the ball along with Martial. However, Berezutski is there first to hack away the danger before the attackers can pounce.
13'
CSKA's midfield line seems a little flat, with a bank of five players failing to do much to stop the much more layered approach from the home side. This has led to a fair amount of space for runners.
11'
Rooney and Martial are both attacking from central positions, and with plenty of support out wide from Young, Rojo, Mata and Lingard, the Red Devils have a plethora of options to choose from.
9'
Rojo continues to be a feature in United's play in the early exchanges here, bombing up and down the left. They really are looking sharp and have the opposition on the back foot.
7'
The pressure continues to be concentrated around the CSKA end, and Lingard has a shot blocked before Akinfeev is called into action to stop a close-range opening from the youngster on the next chance.
5'
Man Utd have started this match positively, with some swift passing and a good tempo to many of their attacks. CSKA don't look comfortable in possession by contrast, giving the ball away more than once.
3'
First glimpse at a chance and it falls to the home side, with Wayne Rooney taking aim from a half-volley that goes the wrong side of Akinfeev's goal. Good play by Rojo to set up that opening.
1'
Off we go.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Champions League clash between CSKA Moscow and Manchester United at Old Trafford. Group B is still tight after the first three games, with only three points separating top from bottom. I'm Keeghann Sinanan, your guide for all the action.
Manchester United have drawn four matches in a row, a stagnant run that has seen them slip four points behind Manchester City and Arsenal at the Premier League summit, as well as getting knocked out of the League Cup by Championship side Middlesbrough. The pressure is on Louis van Gaal and his men to issue a response here in a pivotal European game.
CSKA, meanwhile are faring much better domestically. A 2-0 victory over Ufa on Saturday saw them maintain their nine-point lead atop the Russian Premier League, as well as equaling a top-flight record of 36 points from 14 matches. They are the only unbeaten side left in the division, with 11 wins and three draws during that span.
Both sides split the points during a 1-1 draw in Russia for the reverse fixture two weeks ago. It has left Group B delicately poised at the halfway stage, as Wolfsburg top the pile with six points, one ahead of tonight's opponents, who have each won, drawn and lost a game apiece. PSV bring up the rear with three points.
Man Utd (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Young, Smalling, Blind, Rojo; Carrick, Schweinsteiger; Lingard, Mata, Martial; Rooney.
Man Utd subs: Romero, Jones, Depay, Fellaini, Herrera, Darmian, Andreas Pereira.
Ashley Young replaces Matteo Darmian in defence for the hosts, with the ex-Aston Villa man starting at right-back. Jesse Lingard also comes into the side for Ander Herrera, whole Michael Carrick is chosen ahead of Morgan Schneiderlin in midfield. Wayne Rooney keeps hs place up top despite serious concern over his lack of goals and form.
Georgi Milanov has won the race to start ahead of Seydou Doumbia in something of a surprise call, with Ahmed Musa chosen to lead the line for the visitors. Zoran Tosic keeps his place against one of his (brief) former clubs, while Aleksei Berezutski replaces Victor Vasin, with twin brother Vasili not in the matchday squad.
United's problems in front of goal continue to haunt them as they fail to turn possession into goals here at Old Trafford. They're 45 minutes away from a record fourth scoreless draw in a row, after a first-half where they took the game to CSKA during certain periods. Second half is just around the corner, so do stay tuned.
Rooney's goal 11 minutes from time gives United the win, top spot in Group B and moves the skipper level with Denis Law on 237 goals for the Red Devils - good for second all-time. With PSV to come at home and Wolfsburg away in their final two group games, the home side's destiny is right in their own hands.
That's all from me, Keeghann Sinanan here signing off and saying bye for now!
