There will be three minutes added on at the end of this match.
89'
Costa Rica are showing a few signs of life, but it is too little, too late for them. Meanwhile, a huge roar of applause stretches across Elland Road as Marcus Rashford is announced on the loud speaker as man of the match.
87'
Pope is forced into action for the first time as he saves a Matarrita shot from a tight angle on the end of a long, but altogether pedestrian, spell in possession for Costa Rica. All that's left now is the final whistle.
85'
The tempo has completely gone from the match now as neither side are pushing the pace here in the closing minutes. It's definitely surprising to see Costa Rica, a nation with such great pride, just sort of lay down like this and stumble their way to the finish line.
81'
Southgate will have to be pleased with the way his side have played tonight, in their final friendly ahead of their opening Group G match against Tunisia on the 18th. The players have done their part, now the pressure falls on the shoulders of the manager to pick his XI for that match. There will be some deserving players left out, that's for sure.
79'
J. Lingard enters the game and replaces R. Loftus-Cheek.
Another change here for England as Loftus-Cheek gives way for Lingard, who earns his 12th England cap.
78'
It's a just reward for England, that second goal, for their dominance tonight. It's certainly been a long time coming and that should be enough to put this match to bed.
76'
D. Welbeck has scored a goal for England! Assist by D. Alli.
ENGLAND DOUBLE THEIR LEAD! Welbeck pounces to make it 2-0! Alli was the architect, driving forward and bursting into the area before bending what looked like a shot towards the far post, but it winds up being the perfect cross for Welbeck to head home!
Alli will claim that he meant to do that, but it certainly looked a scuffed shot from him as opposed to a cross. Either way, that's his assist.
72'
I. Smith enters the game and replaces C. Gamboa.
Another change for the visitors as Gamboa gives way for Ian Smith, a defender who crafts his trade with Norrkoping in Sweden.

Description
69'
G. González gets yellow.
Y. Tejeda enters the game and replaces D. Guzmán.
And Gonzalez promptly picks up the second booking of the night, for dissent.
Costa Rica make a second change here, with Yeltsin Tejada coming on in place of Guzman.
68'
R. Matarrita gets yellow.
Costa Rica substitute Matarrita picks up the first booking of the match for a cynical foul on Loftus-Cheek.
67'
The beauty of these friendlies is it allows managers to see as many of their players in game action as they'd like. The problem, however, is the constant substitutions throughout the second half really have a way of taking the sting out of a game.
65'
G. Cahill enters the game and replaces J. Stones.
N. Pope enters the game and replaces J. Butland.
Pope comes on to make his first international appearance at any level for England - a big moment for him - as he replaces Butland.
And finally, there's been a change in defence for England with Stones giving way for Cahill.
64'
K. Trippier enters the game and replaces T. Alexander-Arnold.
D. Alli enters the game and replaces J. Henderson.
Another Liverpool player gives way to a Spurs one as Henderson is replaced by Alli.
Alexander-Arnold's debut has come to an end as he's replaced by Trippier.
61'
C. Bolaños enters the game and replaces J. Venegas.
D. Welbeck enters the game and replaces J. Vardy.
England make a change of their own as well as Vardy, who saw a team low seven touches in the first half, is replaced by Welbeck.
60'
R. Matarrita enters the game and replaces B. Oviedo.
Costa Rica make the first change of the night and it's a like-for-like swap as Ronald Matarrita replaces Oviedo.
58'
Back the other way come the visitors and Gamboa is presented with a shooting chance, but he just can't keep his balance as he lifts an effort over the bar from 25 yards. Still, we've seen more in these last 10 minutes in attack from Costa Rica than in the entire first half.
56'
HUGE SAVE! That's a terrific piece of goalkeeping from Navas, who reacts expertly to parry a ferocious volley from Henderson from the edge of the penalty area! Then from the ensuing corner, Oviedo clears Maguire's header off the line!
54'
Following a solid response from Costa Rica, England have regained control here. Camp has once again been setup inside the attacking half, as they go back to patiently working the ball around looking for an opening.
50'
Costa Rica have started this second half much better than the did the first, enjoying a bit of possession out of the gate here, and actually calling Butland into action on the end of Urena's deflected shot. Is this going to be another tale of two halves for England? They've seen that before.
48'
Dominant would be an astute description of England's first half, but at the same time, credit has to be given to Costa Rica for how they've defended. The visitors have come under immense pressure, yet England have struggled to break them down. That's one positive Costa Rica can take from this, that despite creating nothing, they only trail because of a Rashford stunner.
46'
The second half is underway!
45'
There will be a minimum of one minute added on at the end of this first half.
HALF-TIME: ENGLAND 1-0 COSTA RICA.
43'
Into the final couple minutes of what has been a nightmare of a first half for Costa Rica. Considering all the possession England have had, the visitors have actually defended well, but their inability to offer anything going forward shows how out of their depth they are right now. They need to make some changes ahead of their opening match against Serbia.
39'
BIG CHANCE WASTED! Delph whips in an enticing corner from the left, which is headed back across goal by Maguire. It hits Loftus-Cheek in the chest, but the unsuspecting midfielder can't control or he would have had a simple finish from in close!
37'
Southgate has shown a lot of faith in Alexander-Arnold here, allowing the debutante to take all the free-kick, as well as the corners from the right. The Liverpool full-back has produced some excellent deliveries as well, rewarding the trust put in him by his manager.
35'
Rashford has been at the heard of everything good England have done in this first half. He's been the focal point for the in attack, and you have to think Southgate is taking note. Based off this performance, it would be hard to take the starting place away from him against Tunisia.
33'
Henderson floats an inviting ball in for Vardy, but a bit of miscommunication between them means it's just off the mark. One-way traffic at Elland Road has continued here, showing no signs of changing. Costa Rica are in desperate need of some momentum.
31'
England are making their living in the periphery around the Costa Rica penalty area, knocking it around in the area above and beside it, keeping Costa Rica pinned back. The visitors have offered absolutely nothing going forward - they can't keep going on this way.
29'
Rashford has been incredibly lively up top, with the visitors allowing him to roam a bit. Vardy is being marked closely by the Costa Rica defence, leaving Rashford with time and space to act as the link between midfield and attack - a role he has flourished in.
25'
This match certainly doesn't have the same intensity packed into it as a World Cup match. The feel of it resembles that of a friendly, but that should still take nothing away from England's dominance through the first quarter of the match.
23'
Costa Rica are showing a bit of fight back here, stringing a few passes together, but it's all coming deep in their own end. They're being closed down so quickly when they get near the halfway line, with England doing so well to organise themselves and press off the ball.
21'
BIG SAVE! That's a vital piece of goalkeeping from Navas! Vardy was right there on the doorstep but had no room to bundle home a finish on the end of a header from Maguire! England threatening to add to their lead here.
19'
England back to knocking it about in midfield, with Henderson the focal point in the centre of the pitch, and Rashford doing very well to drift outside and help overload the flank. He's linked up well with Delph tonight, and is always looking to take on a defender.
15'
Let's see what sort of response Costa Rica can mount now. That was a terrific piece of individual brilliance from the United striker, coming at the end of a long spell in the ascendancy from the hosts, and now the visitors need to push back.
13'
M. Rashford has scored a goal for England! Assist by R. Loftus-Cheek.
STUNNING HIT! A BEAUTY FROM RASHFORD AND ENGLAND LEAD 1-0!! What a strike that was! Rashford takes a simple little pass from Loftus-Cheek, picks his head up, turns and hammers a electric strike into the top corner from close to 30 yards! It's come from nothing!
Loftus-Cheek provides the assist, but that was all in the strike from Rashford.
11'
Much more of the same here with England knocking it around in midfield, keeping Costa Rica at arm's length. The visitors need to adopt a bit more energy here if they are to win the ball back and start spending some time of their own in attack.
9'
The hosts are really bossing possession now as they keep Costa Rica hemmed into defence, though they've been unable to carve out an opening. It's all been rather innocent from them on the ball, but the pressure is certainly building.
5'
England have a good intensity about them off the ball, keen to always win it back when they concede possession. They're enjoying a nice spell on the ball here, camped out just inside the halfway line, patiently working it around as they look for an opening.
3'
Possession evenly shared by both sides through the opening few minutes, and a probing run by Alexander-Arnold sees him win the first corner of the match - though it amounts to precious little for the hosts. Still, good ambition shown there by the Liverpool full-back.
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! England in red as they get the match underway, with Costa Rica in white and black.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of this international friendly as England welcome Costa Rica to Elland Road!
This is the final tune-up for England ahead of their Group G opener against Tunisia on June 18, and it’s also a chance for the Three Lions to exorcise their demons of the 2014 World Cup in which they crashed out at the group stage, ending their tournament in a goalless draw with Costa Rica.
There are still a number of places in the starting XI up for grabs, according to Gareth Southgate, and tonight’s match should serve as a big opportunity for some of these players to stake claim to a spot in that match against Tunisia.
Costa Rica looked good in their first warm-up match on Sunday as they hammered Northern Ireland 3-0, but face a step up in competition tonight as they should get a firm grasp of where they stand heading into this summer’s showcase.
Unlike England, this will not be Los Ticos’ final tune-up, as they’re set to take on Belgium – another Group G combatant – on Monday in Brussels. Both will be great tests for Costa Rica, who are set to take on Switzerland and Serbia in Russia, along with Brazil.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
ENGLAND (3-5-2): Jack Butland; Phil Jones, John Stones, Harry Maguire; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jordan Henderson, Fabian Delph, Danny Rose; Jamie Vardy, Marcus Rashford.
SUBS: Jesse Lingard, Harry Kane, Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier, Dele Alli, Danny Welbeck, Nick Pope, Gary Cahill, Raheem Sterling, Ashley Young, Jordan Pickford, Eric Dier.
COSTA RICA (3-4-3): Keylor Navas; Kendall Watson, Giancarlo Gonzalez, Francisco Calvo; Cristian Gamboa, David Guzman, Celso Borges, Bryan Oviedo; Johan Venegas, Joel Campbell, Marco Urena.
SUBS: Oscar Duarte, Johnny Acosta, Daniel Colindres, Rodney Wallace, Ian Smith, Christian Bolanos, Randall Azofeifa, Leonel Moreira, Ronald Matarrita, Bryan Ruiz, Patrick Pemberton, Yeltsin Tejeda.
As promised from Southgate, it's an England debut for Liverpool full-back Alexander-Arnold, who starts opposite Rose on the flank. Vardy and Rashford form a partnership up top with Kane on the bench tonight, while Butland gets the nod in goal. Delph and Loftus-Cheek have the chance to make an impression in midfield as well tonight, as they're set to start alongside Henderson.
Oscar Ramirez has named close to a full-strength side for tonight's match. This is close to how Los Ticos will line-up for their World Cup opener, with Duarte, Bolanos and Ruiz perhaps the three who would push for a spot in the XI against Serbia. It's a big chance for Venegas up top, as he takes Ruiz's usual place in joining Campbell and Urena.
Marcus Rashford has been the catalyst for England and his stunner has them leading at the break at Elland Road. It's a flattering scoreline for Costa Rica who have seen precious little of the ball and have offered nothing going forward. There's work to be done for the 2014 World Cup quarter-finalists, while Southgate will have to be pleased with how comfortable his Three Lions have looked in the 3-5-2 formation.
We should see plenty of changes in personnel in this second half, but for now it doesn't appear as though there have been any at the break as the same 22 players trot out ahead of the final 45 minutes...
That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
Marcus Rashford and Danny Welbeck were on target for England as they stroll to victory in dominant fashion in their final World Cup tune-up. Up next for Gareth Southgate's Three Lions: Tunisia in Group G action on June 18. Costa Rica have one more chance to right the ship before they kick-off their tournament, as they are set to take on Belgium in friendly action on Monday.
