The replays show that it did strike the arm of Trejo, but it wasn't deliberate and there was no way he could get out of the way of the ball.
43'
Costa has been pretty isolated so far, Rayo have done an excellent job of keeping him quiet and also limiting the threats of Lemar and Correa down the flanks.
41'
Atletico have taken their foot off the throttle in these last 10 minutes or so, with Rayo enjoying more and more possession but much of it is in the middle of the pitch and not troubling the Atletico final third.

Not long to go until the break now, can either side take the lead before the half-time whistle? It's a very even game at the moment, with both teams unable to carve out any goalscoring chances.
37'
GOOD SAVE! Garcia is called into action and has to make two strong saves to deny Atletico. Partey Thomas first from the edge of the box, the keeper manages to push the ball out wide but it falls straight to Correa who tries to curl the ball into the bottom corner, but Garcia makes another good save. 24'
You wouldn't think that Rayo were a newly promoted side the way they are playing at the moment, you could've expected them to sit back and invite the Atletico pressure, but so far, Oblak's goal has seen the most action.
22'
Despite Atletico now starting to dominate the game, Rayo are holding their own and look comfortable at the back, a much better performance then last weekend when they suffered a heavy opening day defeat against Valencia.
20'
Costa wins a free-kick deep inside the Rayo half, close to the corner flag after Ba got too close and pushed the Atletico striker over. Griezmann whips it into the area, but once again Rayo head away the danger and the chance goes away.

Saul is the main man pulling the strings in the Atletico midfield, he is constantly on the ball and dictating the hosts attack. However, Rayo are defending well, staying compact and not allowing those dangerous Atletico attackers the time to carve them open.
14'
Griezmann is dropping deep to get on the ball which is allowing more space for Costa to exploit and be the main striker in this team. So far they have struggled to get the ball into the Rayo final third, especially with the visitors playing a strong high line, which has already caught Costa offside after his run in behind.
12'
The visitors are keeping the ball well and are causing the Atletico defence a few problems with their quick breaks forward. Meanwhile Atleti are struggling to string a few passes together as Rayo are pressing very high up the pitch and not allowing the hosts any time or space on the ball.

We're underway!
Good evening and welcome to our live match commentary of the LaLiga clash between Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.
After an entertaining 1-1 draw against Valencia last week, Atletico return home for the first time this season with the task of overcoming newly promoted Rayo Vallecano.
The visitors face the almighty task of trying to cope with the attacking threat of Simeone’s strengthened squad, especially after a poor opening game performance against Valencia, as they lost 4-1 at home, to bring them back to reality after securing the Segunda Division title last season. They were relegated from the top division back in 2016 and after two seasons away, they now make their return.
Let's take a look at the teams...
ATLETICO (4-4-2): Jan Oblak (GK); Lucas Hernandez, Diego Godín (c), Stefan Savic, Juanfran; Thomas Lemar, Saúl Niguez, Rodrigo, Angel Correa; Antoine Griezmann, Diego Costa
ATLETICO SUBS: Jose Gimenez, Thomas Partey, Filipe Luis, Koke, Antonio Adan, Nikola Kalinic, Gelson Martins
RAYO SUBS: Javi Guerra, Sergio Moreno, Miguel Angel Morro, Jose Pozo, Chechu Dorado, Alvaro Medran, Sergio Akieme
RAYO (4-2-3-1): Alberto Garcia (GK & C); Alex Moreno, Abdoulaye Ba, Jordi Amat, Luis Advíncula; Gorka Elustondo, Santiago Comesaña; Gael Kakuta, Oscar Trejo, Álvaro García; Adrian Embarba.
The Wanda Metropolitano was a fortress last season as Atletico only suffered one league defeat at home in their new stadium and that came towards the end of the season, when Diego Simone's side had started to concentrate on the Europa League, which they went on to win.
The teams are out here and kick-off is just a few minutes away! Stay tuned for all of the match action.
It's goalless here at the Wanda Metropolitano, a game that has lacked any goalscoring chances and pace so we haven't seen many attacking moves. Rayo have performed much better tonight then they did last weekend, they don't look overawed by the opposition and look dangerous going forward, especially on the counter.
Simeone will be hoping for a much better performance from his side in the second period. They forced Garcia into making a good save late on but certainly haven't done as much in the final third as they would've liked, with Griezmann and Costa unable to cause any problems.
That's all from us tonight folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
Atletico score the only goal of the game thanks to Antoine Griezmann midway through the second half. The hosts managed to hold onto the victory, despite a late charge by Rayo who created a couple of excellent goalscoring chances, but they were denied by a series of superb saves by Jan Oblak.
The hosts pick up their first victory of the season, whilst Rayo suffer a second straight defeat upon their return to the Spanish top division. Next up for Atletico is a trip to Celta Vigo, whilst Rayo will return home where they will face Athletic Bilbao.
